Hello All! I’m writing to help spread the word about a great event put on by our friends at the Alzheimer’s Association Maine Chapter. It’s the Ride to Remember Poker Run. For all you motorcyclists out there, this Saturday, June 4th, rev your engines for Alzheimer’s! For your $20 donation per bike, you get a light breakfast and lunch by Binga’s. There will be prizes for the top 3 places and fun for all.
The Alzheimer’s Association Maine Chapter has this description on their website:
“Freedom. It’s the word bikers use to describe the exhilaration of riding a motorcycle…and it’s the cherished gift people with Alzheimer’s lose as their illness progresses.
Ride to Remember is the annual motorcycle ride benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter. The event consists of a Poker Run beginning and ending at Big Moose Harley-Davidson in Portland, and features breakfast, lunch, entertainment, raffles, and more.”
And if like me, you’ve never heard of a “poker run” before, here is the Wikipedia definition
(it sounds like a great time!):
“A poker run is an organized event where participants, usually in boats or motorcycles, must visit five to seven checkpoints, drawing a playing card at each one. The object is to have the best poker hand at the end of the run. The event is not timed.”
