Greetings.
One of the more interesting services that have appeared lately is the sort of hybrid companion care service that’s often offered as part of day surgery. People getting cataracts removed, having simple day surgeries or some orthopedic treatments discover that they really can’t be along in the immediate recovery period, but they don’t need care for longer than two or three days.
In the case of cataracts, a companion picks up the elder, takes them to surgery, waits and retrieves them, gets any prescriptions, and then accompanies them back home. At home, the caregiver makes the appropriate meal, cares for any animals, provides assistance with any bed time preparations, and even makes phone calls to family and friends. The senior has short-term assistance available to make sure nothing goes wrong, and there is peace of mind for all concerned!
There are a couple of services in Maine that offer this care. Let me know if you’d like some suggestions.
